The ‘Eagle’ is on the moveThe Eagle Alpha Oil and Gas Process Plant Training Suite is spreading its wings to new premises and a major upgrade. Used by Aberdeen College’s Oil and Gas training company ASET International Oil & Gas Training Academy, to train hundreds of oil and gas trainees from all over the world, the Eagle has a global reputation for being one of the best training facilities of its kind.
Currently based at Minto Avenue, the Eagle Platform is just one of a collection of unique resources contributing to the training by ASET, acknowledged worldwide as a specialist training provider within the Oil & Gas, Marine, Electrical, Transportation and Health & Safety industries. With their current lease coming to an end and the College’s state-of-the-art £15million investment at its Altens Centre now complete, ASET will be moving to custom-built premises within the Altens site where it will also be able to make use of the facilities available in the new building. In order to ensure the Eagle lands safely, Aberdeen College has appointed Amor Group as the main contractor for the relocation and upgrade of the existing Eagle Alpha O&G Process Plant Training Suite. Once the Eagle Alpha is relocated to the new Aberdeen College facilities just across the road in Minto Drive Aberdeen, it will be upgraded with the latest Automation Control and Instrumentation equipment & technologies. Major enhancements will include a new state of the art DCS control system, Emergency Shut Down System, Fire & gas System, Smart instruments, Wireless technologies, full fiscal metering suite and Hydrocarbon Operator Training Simulation complete with high fidelity compressor control emulation. As the upgraded training rig will comprise of existing and new equipment / technologies, it will be unique in providing a realistic training environment, encompassing hands on competency training using both older existing equipment (as installed offshore) and new state of the art equipment of the future.
