A Global Economy – Have We Got The Energy? December Business Breakfast

Aberdeen was recently rated one of the world’s top cities to live in for the second year running in the Mercer 2011 quality-of-living survey. In the next in AGCC's Business Breakfast Series, sponsored by BG Group and supported by ACSEF, speakers will discuss what lies ahead for the city and whether we have the energy to maintain our position amongst the world’s elite.

Chamber Chief Executive, Bob Collier, said: “Aberdeen has held its place amongst the top cities for a number of years thanks largely to the wealth generated by the oil and gas sector. Although there are still decades left in the North Sea, we cannot get complacent and should constantly look at new ways to ensure our city remains attractive for future investment. The aim of this breakfast is to discuss some of the upcoming key projects and industries, feeding the debate on where the city can go from here.”

Malcolm Reading will discuss the City Garden Project and its importance to Aberdeen and its legacy; Sara Budge will give an update on 'Energetica' and highlight some of the opportunities evolving within the Energetica corridor; Colin Welsh will focus on the oil and gas sector giving a surprisingly opportunistic outlook for the industry in general, and the Aberdeen area in particular.

The breakfast series is sponsored by oil and gas operator BG Group. Neil McCulloch, BG Group Vice President of UK Upstream said: “BG Group is delighted to sponsor the Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce Business Breakfasts. These events provide the North-east of Scotland with an important forum to debate and share information on a wide range of relevant business topics across many business sectors.”

The event, chaired by Alf Young, Scotsman columnist and economic commentator, is open to members and non-members and will be held at the Thistle Airport Hotel on Wednesday, December 07 from 7 – 9am. Places can be booked online by clicking here or by calling the Events Team on (01224) 343901/343922.
