A New Face at VSA

Local social care charity VSA welcomes Alan Reid as Development Director, a new post within the charity. Married with one daughter, Alan brings a wealth of experience from seventeen years as Director of Corporate Communications for NHS Grampian and from an earlier newspaper background in Belfast.

Alan was a driving force for the Archie Foundation, serving as vice chairman for the charity, which raised more than £5m to enhance the facilities at the new Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital. He was also involved in the setting up of the Friends of Anchor charity in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

Alan Reid said, "I am delighted to be part of such a long established and much respected Aberdeen based charity as VSA.
The current economic climate that we all find ourselves in creates greater challenges for all charities. We realise the pressure everyone will have on their disposable income, but it is essential that our fundraising activities are supported if we are to maintain and develop the high quality care services that we provide to very many vulnerable children and adults in Aberdeen City and Shire."

Kenneth Simpson, Chief Executive of VSA, said, "I am delighted to welcome Alan on board and look forward to working with him. His experience with NHS Grampian will be of great benefit to VSA, helping us to continue to develop to meet the opportunities and challenges of the future."

VSA provides a range of services supporting children and families, older people, adults with disabilities and mental health problems and carers, both adult and child. For more information about VSA please visit www.vsa.org.uk
