AAA IS FIGHTING FIT AT 40Leading North-east recruitment firm, Aberdeen Appointments Agency (AAA), is marking its birthday by raising money for local youngsters. The company, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, decided to take the opportunity to give something back to the local area by fundraising for Northsound radio’s charity, Cash for Kids.
AAA’s ‘Fighting Fit at 40’ campaign kicked off at the start of August, and ran for 40 days. The challenge involved those taking part having a health check at the start of the challenge and then again at the end to see how their fitness improved over 40 days.
Staff at the firm also completed an endurance challenge which saw a member of the team on a treadmill at all times for 40 hours over the course of five working days, in an attempt to cover 254km – the distance between Aberdeen and Fort William. Their initial objective was beaten by an impressive 90km, with the overall distance covered equal to the route from Aberdeen to Wick, and funds raised by the team reached over £5,500.
The team received support from Nuffield Health, who provided free membership to the team for the duration of the challenge. The health club’s manager Steve Bradley also organised lunch time fitness classes especially for the AAA team.
AAA’s managing director, Gus Porter, said: “We decided that since we are celebrating our birthday this year, it would be a great idea to take the opportunity to raise some money for our chosen charity, Cash for Kids.
“We chose to support Cash for Kids this year because as a local business we felt that it was important to support a local charity.
“As well as raising thousands for the charity, everyone involved in the ‘Fighting Fit at 40’ campaign has had a lot of fun doing it and I am delighted to have been able to incorporate our 40 year anniversary into our fundraising efforts.”
Michelle Herd, charity manager at Cash for Kids, added: “To raise over £5,500 is a fantastic achievement and I am delighted that AAA picked Cash for Kids as their chosen charity of the year.
“On behalf of Cash for Kids I would like to thank everyone involved in the ‘Fighting Fit at 40’ campaign for their efforts.”
