AAA MAKES TWO KEY APPOINTMENTS

North-east recruitment firm Aberdeen Appointments Agency (AAA) has made two senior appointments to help drive the business forward in 2011.

Gus Porter has taken on the role of managing director following 34 years with the company. Having initially joined as a recruitment consultant in 1977, he worked his way up the career ladder to a senior level before buying the business with director Stuart McWilliam in 2007.

In his new role, Mr Porter will oversee the strategic development of the business, whilst retaining a hands-on approach, specialising in the sourcing of finance executives and advising clients on recruitment strategies.

Mr Porter said: “Having been with AAA since the 1970s, I have seen the company grow from strength to strength and as we celebrate our 40th year in business this year, it is a great time to be leading the team.

“I am continuing with a hands-on approach to the business, as working closely with my staff keeps me focused on our clients’ ever-changing needs and gives me the opportunity to mentor our team. AAA is busier than ever and I hope that this success will continue as we embark on a new era of growth.”

Joining the firm in a director role is Amanda Porter, who returns to AAA following a career break. Mrs Porter previously worked for the firm for eight years, initially as a recruitment consultant in 1990 for three years, before becoming the company’s Temp Division Manager for five years. Mrs Porter then moved on to the role of Advertising Sales Manager at the Aberdeen Independent where she worked for two years. Her new role as director will involve overseeing the strategic development of the business, its marketing division and AAA's corporate image.

Mrs Porter said: “I am delighted to be rejoining the team at AAA, particularly during its 40th year anniversary, and I look forward to playing a key role in raising the profile of the business with new and existing clients, both in Aberdeen and internationally. As a company that has recruitment as its core business, we are looking to raise awareness of our expertise in specific areas of the market and this will be part of my role.”

These new appointments strengthen the firm’s leadership team, which includes director Stuart McWilliam heading up the executive technical team and associate director Catherine Brown leading the commercial and operational divisions of the business.
