AAT are pleased to announce that Pitmans Training in Aberdeen and Forres have recently been approved to run computer based assessments for people studying the AAT qualification.

Additionally, Robert Gordon University have announced the following degree programme progression routes for members looking to enhance their professional qualification with an academic award:

1. BA Accounting (with CIMA Advanced Diploma) – entry directly into year two (with effect from Sept 2012), provided they have gained AAT level 4

2. BA (Hons) Business Management – entry directly into year two (with effect from Sept 2011), provided they have gained AAT level 4. For this option student with relevant work experience would also be exempt from year three.

Helen McGougan, Development Manager for AAT in Scotland, writes, ‘With demand for vocational training and modern apprenticeships in accountancy growing in Scotland, this marks a significant step forward in terms of the provision of training and development opportunities for our students and members in Grampian and the surrounding areas.’

From large public sector organisations to accountancy practices and commercial businesses to microenterprises, AAT works closely with business to deliver qualifications that meet the needs of the economy. Working with AAT, you too can help your employees reach their potential through training and professional development.

The AAT Accounting Qualification is a practical skills-based qualification. Your employees will learn skills across a range of tasks from double-entry bookkeeping to management accounts, audit and tax. By the time students have achieved the full AAT Accounting Qualification, they will be equipped with hands-on experience and have developed work-specific skills.

As Iain Abernethy, Director of Learning and Development at Johnston Carmichael explains, “Our employees are at the heart of our business. And so we want to give them the best possible support to have a successful career in accountancy.

We find that the AAT qualification is an excellent learning tool that helps to provide our students with the skills and confidence to develop their careers. The AAT course is relevant and the course structure flexible enough to allow students to manage the demands of working full time and studying part time.

These are exciting times for students, particularly school leavers looking to follow the AAT qualification, with more opportunities becoming available across the accounting profession.”
