Aberdeen artists exhibit at city’s art galleryThe Aberdeen Artists Society’s prestigious exhibition opens on Saturday 30 April at Aberdeen Art Gallery, Schoolhill.
This major annual ‘open’ exhibition, sponsored by Shell UK Limited for the 28th year, provides professional, established, amateur and emerging artists with a platform to show an exciting range of work including painting, sculpture, printmaking, jewellery, textiles and film.
Shell UK Limited continues its support for the event with artists' awards totalling £8000. This year’s exhibition judge is respected artist Alan Gouk, who will choose the winners from a group of 250 works of art which were selected from nearly 750 pieces from all over Scotland, including Aberdeen and the North-east.
The exhibition provides a particularly strong focus for artists living and working in the North of Scotland and is always keenly anticipated by the Art Gallery’s visitors.
President of Aberdeen Artists Society Lyndsey Gibb said: “The show once again brings together a diverse and stimulating mix of members’ and non-members’ work, exploring a vast range of styles, mediums and concepts. We have a rich and inclusive exhibition of painting, printmaking, photography, sculpture, ceramics, jewellery and installations all within the beautiful and impressive Aberdeen Art Gallery."
Glen Cayley, Vice President - Technical for Shell, said: “We are delighted to support Aberdeen Artists in this 28th year of our sponsorship. Our partnership with the society and Aberdeen City Council has been of great value and we wish the society continued success with the exhibition for many years to come.”
Aberdeen Art Gallery & Museums Manager Christine Rew said: “The Annual Aberdeen Artists Society exhibition is always popular with our visitors and once again this year’s show offers a fantastic choice of contemporary artwork for sale. In particular I hope many people will take the opportunity to visit the Art Gallery to see the quality of work produced by our local talent. And with this year's eclectic selection, the exhibition truly offers something for everyone.”
