Aberdeen charities benefit from Stonehouse link up

AN Aberdeen property leasing company is doing its bit for Christmas by donating furniture and clothing left by tenants to charity.

Stonehouse Property, based in Bon Accord House on Riverside Drive has joined forces with various charities including Instant Neighbour by providing them with items that can help those less well off over the festive season.

Marie Scott, property assistant for Stonehouse Property, is pleased with the progress of the pilot scheme.

“The project has only been going for two months but we have already been able to provide the charities with a lot of useful items,” Marie said.

“We provide new items like linen, pots and pans and towels for our new tenants, so there are often a lot of nearly new items left over when an old tenant moves out.

“Even bigger pieces of furniture like sofas and chest of drawers can be particularly useful so it makes sense to pass them on.”

Scott Baxter, interim chief executive of Instant Neighbour, has hailed the link up with Stonehouse Property.

He said: “The scheme and support from Stonehouse has been excellent, we have received a lot of items that have made a big difference to groups, individuals and families we care for.

“It is a particularly demanding time of year for people needing help and the link up with Stonehouse has provided us with a stable income of supplies to offer even basic materials that many of our families are without in their homes.

“We have even been able to profit from unusable items through our recyclable waste initiative, so the project has already proven to be a great success.”
