Aberdeen firms in the running for prestigious entrepreneurial awardsTwo Aberdeen business leaders have been shortlisted for national awards from among the cream of Scotland’s leading entrepreneurial talent. Stuart Mitchell, chief executive officer of Flexlife, and Stuart McLeod, managing director of qedi, are among the finalists of the 2011 Entrepreneurial Exchange Entrepreneur of the Year Awards, which take place in Glasgow on Thursday, December 1.
The awards, in association with Deloitte, are Scotland’s leading and longest-standing annual awards for growth-oriented entrepreneurs, recognising those who have excelled in this area over the last twelve months.
Mr Mitchell is one of three finalists in the running for the Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year title. He will be up against Margaret Lang, of Intelligent Office UK, and Keith Wight of SST Sensing.
Mr McLeod has been shortlisted for the Entrepreneur of the Year accolade. His fellow nominees are Colin Robertson of Alexander Dennis and John Watson of John Watson & Co.
“Both awards recognise the innovation and skill of Scotland’s top forces in today’s business market and it is only right that the city, which has a strong pedigree in terms of fostering creativity and the entrepreneurial spirit should be so well represented,” said Hazel Gray, a Senior Manager at Deloitte in Aberdeen and a member of the Awards interview team. Previous years have seen recognition for high profile business leaders in Scotland, including Sir Tom Hunter, David Milne of Wolfson Microelectronics, Perthshire Butcher Simon Howie and, most recently, Keith Rogers, managing director of Goals Soccer Centres.
The winner will be announced from a final shortlist of three finalists in each category, at the event in the Glasgow Hilton Hotel on 1st December 2011. 136 views
