Aberdeen Forward to host BIG POUND SALE at Open Day in bid to Raise FundsEnvironmental charity, Aberdeen Forward, is to host a BIG POUND SALE at its next Open Day on Saturday 6th February 2010 to help raise funds to support ongoing environmental projects. The sale will be the first of its kind run by the charity and will take place at its head office on Poynernook Road from 10am to 2pm. The event is open to the public, as well as businesses, and will include the sale of boiler suits, tables, chairs, ceramic tiles, paint and boxes of folders; all of which will be sold for £1 each.
Aberdeen Forward already sells many similar items through its Creative Waste Exchange, which recycles unwanted office furniture, stationery and arts and crafts materials. It is hoped the Open Day will introduce newcomers to the exchange and raise awareness of the aims of the Creative Waste Exchange project, which are to reduce waste, promote volunteering and prevent re-useable goods going to landfill.
As well as selling goods, there will be information available on all of the charity’s projects, as well as information on volunteering for those interested in getting involved. The charity currently has volunteering positions available in many areas of the organisation, such as administration, composting, tutoring and marketing.
Anyone interested in volunteering for Aberdeen Forward or in finding out more about he open day should contact Gillian Marr, Volunteer Manager, on 01224 560360.
