Aberdeenshire Council now accepting aluminium foil trays for recyclingJust in time for Christmas and all those mince pies, Aberdeenshire Council is introducing the collection of aluminium foil trays for recycling. Please make sure trays are clean and clear of food residue then just place them in your black recycling box along with food and drink cans.
If you do not have a kerbside collection, please take them along to your most convenient recycling point or centre and put in the food and drink can recycling bin.
“Recycling aluminium is twenty times more efficient than making it from the raw material, bauxite, and now we can increase the amount we collect by including foil trays,” said Infrastructure Services Committee chairman Peter Argyle.
Vice chair Jill Webster said: “Although I’m sure many mince pies will be home baked, most bought ones come in little foil trays.
“Some of us will be doing a lot of cooking over the holidays and will want to enjoy a night off or just a little help in the kitchen, and many pre-prepared ingredients can also come in foil trays.
“It’s good to know that this Christmas, and in future, all those foil trays need not go into the bin and off to landfill.”
