Aberdeenshire Household Waste and Recycling Centre opening hours have been revised

The operating hours of larger Household Waste and Recycling Centres in Aberdeenshire were standardised in 2010 to provide a consistent service across the area.

Although the new opening hours were advertised extensively towards the end of the year, the authority is aware some residents may not know the revised opening hours of their local sites.

Larger facilities are now open from 9am to 5pm on weekdays, with late openings on Tuesday nights to 8pm, and from 10am to 4pm on weekends throughout the year.

The sites affected by the change to standard operating hours were: Macduff, Turriff, Peterhead, Fraserburgh, Ellon, Huntly, Inverurie, Westhill, Banchory, Stonehaven and Laurencekirk.

Most of the sites had operated 12-hour days with different opening and closing times and the new hours allow the authority to provide a consistent service across the area and standardises operating hours.

Although the changes have meant a reduction of operating hours at some sites, residents are encouraged to take advantage of late opening hours on Tuesday evenings to dispose of their waste or recycling items where possible.

A list of centres and their opening times can be found online at www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk/waste/points/hwrc.asp
