ABERDEIN CONSIDINE’S 2011 FUNDRAISING DRIVE CONTINUES TO PICK UP PACEAberdein Considine’s 2011 fundraising drive, in aid of two local charities, continues to gather impressive pace, with the law firm’s campaign having already raised around £10,000 for the organisations. The Aberdeen-headquartered firm announced earlier this year that it would support Archway, which provides community-based services to improve the quality of life for people with learning disabilities, and the Torry Youth Café – a drop-in centre for local youngsters – throughout the year.
The firm’s team of big-hearted staff has already organised a range of fundraising events and activities, across a host of its departments and branches, to reach the £10K mark.
After kicking off the campaign at the firm’s Christmas party in December with a raffle, which raised £4,500, Aberdein Considine’s Asset Management department ‘raised pounds by losing pounds’ in a post-Christmas Slimathon. Two members of its IT department raised further cash by successfully stopping smoking.
The firm’s Repossession Conveyancing department also devised a "guess the baby's weight and date of birth" competition for a new arrival expected by a member of its team, whilst in May, 21 members of the firm’s staff participated in the Baker Hughes 10k run, raising £2,850.
Aberdein Considine’s Partners and staff also recently held a charity golf day at Edzell Golf Club, which boosted the firm’s fundraising coffers by a further £700.
Ruth Aberdein, a partner at Aberdein Considine and the convenor of its charity committee, commented: “We are delighted to have reached the £10,000 mark – an achievement which typifies the commitment our employees have shown towards our fundraising campaigns over the years."
“However, we are extremely eager to raise as much cash as possible for the charities – which are both exceptional causes – and with a number of our major events still to take place, we are confident we will give our cash pot a significant boost in the weeks and months ahead.”
Archway is an Aberdeen-based charity which provides respite, shared and permanent care to over 200 children and adults with learning disabilities. The charity has five community based units throughout Aberdeen, which aim to help users to reach their full potential.
The charity enables service users to gain independence and develop the social skills needed to enable them to live full and active lives in the local community.
