ABERDEIN CONSIDINE’S DISPUTE RESOLUTION PRACTICE GROUP ENJOYS MAJOR GROWTHThe Litigation and Employment Law departments of leading Aberdeen-based law firm Aberdein Considine have enjoyed another exceptional financial year, recording a combined 41% increase in turnover. The Practice Group’s turnover hit £1.2m, an impressive increase on the £850,000 figure recorded for the same period last year.
The positive results cap a highly successful time for the departments, which have seen their legal teams expand by 100%, with numbers increasing from 10 to 20 employees – across both areas – during the last year.
Most recently, the firm appointed Ryan Openshaw and Victoria Grier as solicitors, whilst Keith Anderson has joined the litigation department on a permanent basis, after completing a two year traineeship at Aberdein Considine.
The trio will handle a commercial and private client litigation caseload in both the Sheriff Courts and Court of Session.
Following Keith successfully completing his traineeship, the firm’s litigation department has taken on a fresh batch of trainees.
Elaine Stuart, Catriona Milne and Rachel Main have secured specialist litigation and employment law traineeships, which will cover all aspects of litigation in Scotland’s Sheriff Courts and the Court of Session, as well as contentious and non-contentious employment law issues.
Further highlighting the firm’s commitment to nurturing and developing young talent, Aberdein Considine is providing two talented Mackie Academy pupils – who were part of a team that recently won a national mooting competition – with work experience during the upcoming summer holidays.
Aberdein Considine approached the school to offer the pupils the placement opportunity, after hearing the team came first in the prestigious Bar National Mock Trial Competition at the High Court in Glasgow.
Rob Aberdein, Partner in Charge of Dispute Resolution, commented: “In recent years we have implemented ambitious plans to drive forward the major growth of our legal departments and we’re now clearly reaping the rewards of our efforts with a hugely satisfying 41% increase in turnover.”
“Key to our success has been equipping the department with the very best legal talent, which has resulted in us creating and cementing a reputation for unrivalled litigation expertise and advice.”
“Far from resting on our laurels however, we are eager to enjoy further growth, with plans being put in place to expand outside of Aberdeen and ultimately to position ourselves as the pre-eminent dispute resolution practice in Scotland.”
Established in Aberdeen in 1981, Aberdein Considine operates across North Scotland. Still headquartered in the Granite City, the firm – which employs more than 240 staff – is a broadly based practice, offering clients a complete legal, property and financial professional advisory service.
