Absoft forum to tackle cost savings in the supply chain

OPERATORS and oilfield service companies are being invited to hear from two SAP business software specialists at a forum aimed at exploring materials management best practice and cost saving opportunities in the upstream oil and gas supply chain.

Aimed at key decision makers, the event, which is free to attend, will be hosted by specialist software consultancy Absoft, one of the leading independent SAP providers in the UK, at the company’s headquarters at Aberdeen Science and Technology Park, Bridge of Don on Thursday, February 9.

At the forum, delegates will hear from one of Absoft’s leading oil and gas solution architects, Ade Adewuyi, who will generate a discussion on best practice in the repairs, rentals and returns management process using SAP, which, when optimised, can significantly reduce costs.

This will be followed by a presentation from Farooq Durrani, senior consultant at Absoft, who will examine the importance of adopting robust material tracking conventions using SAP, to ensure offshore equipment is fully traceable and can be quickly identified.

Kim Shand, customer relationship manager at Absoft who is facilitating the forum said: “This event is part of a series of open forums which we have created to bring together decision makers from companies across the sector to discuss common issues and receive advice from SAP experts in the field.

“This forum will demonstrate how SAP can create a more efficient and streamlined materials management process, improving stock traceability as well as providing cost savings by potentially reducing the stock balance sheet by up to 10 percent and doubling re-usage of existing stock.”

The forum takes place at Davidson House with an informal buffet lunch at 1pm before the session, which runs from 1.30pm to 3.30pm. For further information or to register, contact Rachel Black on 01224 707088 or by email at rblack@absoft.co.uk.
