ACC Chief Executive Valerie Watts to Open the Events Event 2012

Aberdeen City Council has confirmed chief executive Valerie Watts will officially open The Events Event 2012 in Aberdeen in January.

This is another coup for the event organisers, who report floor space, exhibitor numbers, and online registrations have already exceeded numbers at the 2011 event.

John and Kathleen Anderson, of Aberdeen’s entertainment agency Elite Promotions, are organising the event being held at the AECC on 19th January.

“We’re delighted that Valerie Watts has accepted our invitation to attend and open The Events Event 2012 and we look forward to showing her how valuable a sector this is to Aberdeen City and Shire, as well as the rest of Scotland,” said Mr Anderson.

He said that the 250 who registered online account for £10 million worth of corporate spend, in a national business tourism sector estimated by VisitScotland at £810 million in 2010.

“The Scottish Event Awards celebrates and rewards the very best of the events industry, and is the only one of its kind in Scotland.”

The Scottish Event Awards, now in its fourth year, will launch its 2012 awards at the January event, which will attract event organisers, in-house teams, event promoters, venues, and event suppliers.
