ACUMEN APPOINTS ASSOCIATE TO LEAD ITS EDINBURGH OFFICE

Independent business advisors Acumen Accountants and Advisors (Acumen) have appointed a new associate in the firm’s Edinburgh office.

Elena Barns has taken on the role following four years with the company. She will be responsible for running the Edinburgh office and driving forward business development opportunities, as well as continuing to provide tax advice to her existing client base of individuals and owner managed businesses.

In 2004, Elena joined Edinburgh tax practice, Professional Tax Management, which became part of Acumen in 2007 when a business acquisition was completed. Prior to her appointment as associate, Elena held the position of senior tax manager, specialising in tax planning for individual clients. Particular areas of expertise include international, inheritance and property development taxation and she has a considerable client base of medical practitioners, including Harley Street consultants.

Elena said: “I’m looking forward to fulfilling the role of associate and playing a key role in the running of the Edinburgh office. During my time at Acumen, I have developed a detailed understanding of the firm’s ethos and its ambitions and I hope to use my experience in international business and finance to push forward the business development side of the business.”
