AECC – Serving Local Produce

Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) have partnered with Aberdeenshire Council to once more raise awareness of the use of local produce in the catering on-site at Offshore Europe 2011, which runs from 6th to 8th September this year.

This partnership was formed in 2009 to promote the local agricultural sector, with Aberdeenshire Council sponsoring the t-shirts worn by AECC’s 250 serving staff at Offshore Europe, bearing the message “AECC – Serving Local Produce”.

AECC support the use of locally sourced food and were the first establishment of its kind in Scotland to receive the Healthy Living Award in recognition of the commitment to providing healthier eating options.

Brian Horsburgh, Managing Director at AECC, said, “We are very passionate about providing visitors to the venue with an exceptional dining experience coupled with great customer service.

The use of local suppliers is something we feel strongly about, it supports the local community and also benefits all with the green credentials associated with buying local.

It also ensures freshness and enhances the quality of the food prepared and served at AECC, with seasonal variations and regional ingredients which make for a unique eating experience.”

Councillor Peter Argyle, chairman of Aberdeenshire Council's Infrastructure Services committee, said: "Local producers across Aberdeenshire make a vital contribution to our local economy and the products they produce are of the highest quality, which are sold here both at home and in some cases abroad.

I am thrilled that by working once again with the AECC, Aberdeenshire Council is able to support and promote our local food industry to the thousands of visitors who will be attending Offshore Europe this year.”
