Afternoon Tea Gets Communication Flowing at RGU

Communication students and professionals will exchange knowledge and experience on Wednesday 4 May at a special 'Careers in Communication' event hosted by the Grampian Public Relations Group, the Chartered Institute of Public Relations and Robert Gordon University.

How to secure a top job in the communication industry will be the focus of conversation over afternoon tea. Communication professionals from a wide range of Aberdeen based organisations will offer top tips to students, lead workshop activities and come under the spotlight during a Q&A session. Topics will include in-house, consultancy, charitable, crisis management, event management and oil & gas communication careers.

Around 60 students and 20 professionals are expected to attend the free event which is being held at Robert Gordon University's Garthdee campus. Students who are studying the HND, undergraduate and postgraduate communication and media courses at Aberdeen College and Robert Gordon University have been invited to attend.

The Robert Gordon University Careers Centre will also provide some hints about CVs and interview technique. Careers Consultant, Lorraine Pitman, said "The purpose of the event is to provide students with good information about job opportunities after graduation and what the industry is looking for in a communication professional. We hope the students will use this opportunity to network with the professionals and improve their chances of securing the job they want when they graduate."
