Young people with mental health problems waiting for three and a half years for treatment in Scotland is absolutely unacceptable - YoungMinds
Commenting on reports that some young people with mental health problems have to wait for up to three and a half years in Scotland for treatment, YoungMinds Director of Campaigns, Policy and Participation Lucie Russell said:
“Young people waiting for up to three and a half years for treatment for mental health problems in Scotland is absolutely unacceptable. Having to suffer and attempting to cope with issues like self harm, eating disorders and depression alone as young people navigate childhood and the turbulent teenage years puts unimaginable stress on them.
“Not intervening early just stores up the mental health problems of the next generation in Scotland and creates entrenched mental illness in adulthood.”
