Alternative arrangements planned for city waste collections if strike goes aheadWaste collections in Aberdeen will be disrupted on Wednesday 30 November if planned nationwide industrial action goes ahead. If the strike goes ahead the following alternative arrangements will be made:
• The fortnightly collections of household wheeled bins and kerbside recycling collections scheduled for 30 November will be carried out on Saturday, 03 December; • The weekly collection of household wheeled bins will be carried out on Wednesday, 07 December; • Garden and food waste collections scheduled for 30 November will be carried out on Wednesday, 14 December; • Commercial waste collections will be carried out on the customer’s next scheduled collection day; • Recycling points and household waste and recycling centres will operate as normal.
Householders and commercial waste customers affected by the possible strike action are asked not place their waste out for collection on 30 November. Collections on the alternative days are scheduled to start at the normal times.
The council has already announced that schools and council-operated community centres and crèches will be closed to pupils and members of the public if the strike goes ahead.
Staff who are not involved in industrial action will be reporting to work as normal. 72 views
