AMOR GROUP WINS CONTRACT TO RELOCATE AND UPGRADE RENOWNED OIL AND GAS TRAINING FACILITYLeading business technology solutions provider Amor Group has been awarded a £1.2million contract by Aberdeen College’s oil and gas training company to relocate and upgrade its world-renowned replica oil platform.
The Eagle Alpha Oil and Gas Process Plant Training Suite is used by the ASET International Oil & Gas Training Academy to train thousands of oil and gas trainees from all over the world, and has a global reputation for being one of the best facilities of its kind.
With more than 20 years experience in the oil and gas industry, Amor Group has been chosen to relocate the training suite and upgrade it with some of its own industry standard solutions.
The upgraded Eagle Alpha training facility will provide a fully simulated topside of an offshore platform, including fire and gas detection systems, a fiscal metering suite, wireless instruments, and an asset management suite.
Key components of Amor Group’s Operability+ solution, which drives efficiency and safety in process control systems, on alarm management, control loop tuning and human machine interface assessment will be integrated.
Amor Group will be installing part of its ProcessSecurity+ solution to defend the control systems against malicious code execution, protect against attack and prevent uncontrolled changes.
The group will also be providing its own Simulation+ solution for troubleshooting process and control problems on the Eagle Alpha rig as well as FPSO, LNG and compressor equipment.
The solution is used across the energy industry for training technicians and engineers and assuring their competence.

Atholl Menzies, ASET Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director, added: “The Eagle Alpha training rig is already an impressive piece of equipment but with its upgrade, and by utilising the additional functionality and enhanced features of this latest technologies equipment, we plan to develop new bespoke training course content to better meet the ever changing needs of the North Sea and international oil and gas industries.
“We chose Amor Group because of its experience in the oil and gas industry and ability to facilitate this unique project.”
The five-month contract will see the Eagle platform being moved from its current base at Minto Avenue to the new facilities across the road at Minto Drive.
Aberdeen College has invested £15million in its Altens Centre and ASET will be moving to custom-built premises within the Altens site, where it will also be able to make use of the facilities in the new building.
As the upgraded training rig will comprise of existing and new equipment and technologies, it will provide a realistic training environment, encompassing hands-on competency training using both older equipment currently used offshore and cutting edge equipment of the future.
