ARAMARK MANAGING DIRECTOR SHORT LISTED FOR FIRST WOMEN AWARD

It was announced today (Wednesday 27th April 2011) that Susan Elston, first female managing director for ARAMARK’s offshore division, has been short listed in the 2011 First Women Awards.

Susan Elston has carved a powerful presence for herself in a notoriously male-dominated sector. She was named the Aberdeen and Grampian Director of the Year in 2008, as well as receiving the Scottish Enterprise Female Director Award for that year.

Susan says: “This is a great honour. My advice to women is don’t make an automatic assumption that your gender will provide unsurpassable barriers which block your career path”.

The First Women Awards were established in 2000 by Real Business magazine and the CBI. They celebrate trailblazing and pioneering women in business and genuine ‘glass ceiling’ breakers. The awards aim to unearth women whose achievement and individual actions have helped and are helping to remove barriers and open up opportunities for others to follow.
