Arts & Business Scotland Awards – North East companies shortlisted

North East based businesses feature strongly in the Shortlist for the 25th anniversary Arts & Business Awards. Six arts projects competed with nominations from across Scotland to remain in the running for a prestigious Award.

“This year’s shortlist was incredibly strong illustrating the wealth of creative partnerships between culture and commerce happening here in Scotland. These imaginative sponsorships are superb examples of how business and the arts can work together to make a vital contribution to a wide range of activities.

From projects working with communities in areas of social deprivation to world class international flagship arts events, businesses in the North East continue to see the commercial and community benefits of investing in Scotland’s culture. “

The winners will be announced at a celebratory dinner in the Aberdeen Music Hall on 26 October 2011.

The shortlisted NE partnerships are:

For a partnership that has encouraged specific community engagement.

• TOTAL E&P UK Limited & Royal Scottish National Orchestra

 

Young People Award sponsored by Aberdeen Asset Management

For a partnership that has harnessed the power of the arts to engage young people.

• Mobil North Sea LLC & Scottish Ballet

• TAQA Bratani Limited & Moving Flicks

 

Cultural Branding Award sponsored by Shell UK Limited

For a partnership that has reinforced the branding and marketing activity of a business through use of culture.

• MacB (Sangs) & Aberdeen International Youth Festival

 

In addition to the categories above winners of two special Awards with connections to the North East will be announced at the Awards ceremony on the 26th Oct.

 

Aberdeen City Arts Award sponsored by Aberdeen City Council

 

For an individual or organisation that has made a special contribution to arts in the city.

Leadership Award sponsored by Chevron Upstream Europe

For an individual who has shown outstanding leadership in the arts in Scotland during 2010.

All winners will receive a specially commissioned Award created by Fraser Reid and Nick Ross of Grays School of Art in Aberdeen.
