ASCO STRENGTHENS MANAGEMENT TEAM WITH TWO NEW SENIOR APPOINTMENTS IN THE UKLeading global oil and gas logistics company ASCO, has announced the appointment of two new senior members to its Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) management team. John Little has been appointed to the role of UK and Central Europe (CE) Managing Director and Karen Scorgie has been appointed to the Head of HR – UK and CE role. Both positions are based in Aberdeen. John will lead the UK & CE business, responsible for oil and gas logistics contracts across sites in Aberdeen, Peterhead and Great Yarmouth, as well as in the Netherlands. He manages a UK and CE workforce of around 650 people. John, who lives in Aberdeen with his family, has over 20 years experience in the oil and gas sector, spending the past 4 years as Commercial Director of Wood Group Gas Turbine Services. He has also held senior technical and commercial roles for companies including Sulzer Wood, Alstom Power and John Brown Engineering as well as spending 5 years working for the local utility company, China Light and Power Company, based in Hong Kong. Commenting on his appointment, John said: “I am very much looking forward to working with the team to build upon the success that ASCO’s UK business has had to date. My priorities will include safety and environmental performance, customer service and encouraging the development of innovative solutions and opportunities that will enable the business to grow even further.” John will report to Derek Smith, Chief Executive for ASCO’s EMEA region. Karen Scorgie reports to John and is responsible for all facets of the UK business’ human resources activity including learning and development, benefits and compensation and recruitment. Commenting on the new appointments, Derek Smith said: “We’re delighted to have John and Karen join the team. This is an important time in the development of ASCO. The UK and Central Europe region remains the backbone of our international expansion plans and to have John and Karen on board allows us to build on the success of previous years. They join a fantastic team of people who continue to work hard in a time when there are real challenges within our industry.” Previously, Karen Scorgie has worked in operational oil and gas and retail environments as well as spending over 3 years at board level at Royal Mail. Her most recent roles include senior HR positions within Wood Group Engineering and AMEC. John and Karen both commenced their new roles this week, based at the company’s UK headquarters in ASCO House, Sinclair Road, Aberdeen. ASCO Group recently announced their 2010 annual results showing revenues at £516m, up 32% on the previous year. Profit at EBITDA level was also up 7% to £29.2m.
During 2010, the company increased its global footprint establishing operations in the Middle East, Australia and India. 172 views
