Awards recognise healthy livingA total of 36 organisations from across the North East and offshore, employing more than 29,000 people, have won top awards for boosting health and wellbeing in their workplaces. The Healthy Working Lives Programme encourages employers to promote a healthier workforce and covers a wide range of topics including health promotion, occupational health and safety, employability, mental health and well-being, community involvement, and health and the environment. The Bronze Award winners include Aberdeen Airport, Aberdeenshire Council, Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce, Aker MH, Aker OPL, Aker Subsea, Cosalt, Enquest, Flowerpots Childcare, Fugro Survey, Gaffney Cline associates (Formerly RDS Baker), Grampian Fire & Rescue Service, Tyco Fire & Integrated Solutions, Wood Group-Hummingbird, and Wood Group Kenny. The Silver Awards winners are Aberdeen Foyer, Abermed, Capita Health Solutions-Energy, CNR International, Cornerstone, FMC Technologies, Milltimber School, NHS Grampian Acute Sector, Petrofac Heather, Petrofac Thistle, RAF Lossiemouth, and Sulzer Wood. The Gold Award winners are Bibby Offshore Ltd, Castlehill Housing Association, Conoco Phillips - LOGGS platform, Conoco Phillips - Viking Platform, Shell Nelson Platform, Shell Upstream Europe, and Wood Group PSN. The awards were presented by Councillor Bill Howatson, Acting Chair NHS Grampian. Bob Collier, Chief Executive of Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce, said: “Businesses are increasingly aware of the benefits of having a healthy, motivated staff and in our role as a business organisation we think this is an important initiative which should be promoted across all sectors and all size of business. “This is not only something we promote to our members, it is something which we encourage as an employer amongst our own staff and we’re delighted that we have won a Bronze award and look forward to continuing and building on what we have already put in place as we work towards a Silver award.” The Healthy Working Lives Team in Grampian is one of fourteen teams throughout Scotland tasked with supporting workplaces to improve workplace health and safety within their organisations. The Grampian Team currently supports 195 organisations and their 85,000 employees.
