BEFRIEND A CHILD BENEFITS FROM SUCCESSFUL TREND & IT’S DARLING FASHION SHOWLocal children’s charity Befriend A Child was the beneficiary of a fundraising raffle held at a fashion show organised by Trend Magazine and local boutique, It’s Darling, in Aberdeen recently. The event, held in the brasserie at Malmaison, was attended by almost 100 guests who were wined and dined and enjoyed a showcase of Holburn Street-based It’s Darling’s new summer collection.
A total of £400 collected from the sale of raffles on the day was presented to Befriend A Child, which provides a one to one befriending service to vulnerable children in the Granite City.
Karen Farquhar, Chief Executive of Befriend A Child, said: “We were thrilled to be chosen as the charity beneficiary of the fashion show and would like to thank everyone who attended, and particularly the teams at both Trend and It’s Darling, for their support and generosity.”
Established in 1975, Befriend A Child is Scotland's oldest befriending service for disadvantaged children. Working with social workers, care homes, health visitors, and other charities, Befriend A Child supports children aged 4-16 and continues to work with them up until the age of 18, if required.
The scheme became a registered charity in 1991 and in 2010 worked with more than 170 children in Aberdeen City - its largest number to date. It has recently expanded its services into Aberdeenshire for the first time. 220 views
