BIRTHDAY BALL RAISES £25,000 FOR CASH FOR KIDSNorth-east charity Northsound’s Cash for Kids’ recent fundraising ball to mark 15 years of supporting local children has raised £25,000. All proceeds from the black tie event held at Aberdeen’s Marcliffe Hotel and Spa on Saturday night (SEPTEMBER 17) will go to underprivileged, sick and disabled children and young people who live in the North-east.
Guests at the ball enjoyed a champagne reception and five-course dinner, followed by live entertainment from chart-topping singer Emeli Sande, who originally hails from Alford, and a charity auction, which added to the pot.
Cash for Kids charity manager Michelle Herd said: “Northsound’s Cash for Kids has been supporting local children who need a helping hand for the past 15 years, and all the money raised in this area stays locally.
“We thought it would be a great opportunity to mark our 15th birthday by having a charity ball and we are thrilled with the amount we managed to raise on the evening, particularly as we are about to start distributing the funds to applicants.
“I’d like to thank everyone who came along on the night and dug deep to raise such a terrific amount for local children who need a little bit of help.”
Every year, the charity aims to raise £200,000, which is distributed through grants to individuals, clubs, groups and organisations.
Among the numerous recipients of financial support over the years are Aberdeenshire Disability Sport, Women’s Aid, The Reading Bus, Grampian Autistic Society, family support projects, Archway, local schools and community learning groups.
