Birthday Boost For Law FirmUK law firm Bond Pearce is increasing its presence in Aberdeen as it celebrates the fourth anniversary of its arrival in the city. The office was launched around the firm’s oil and gas team but now includes commercial property and employment experts. The latest recruits are Aberdonians Nicola Burnett who has joined the property team and Carol Lee who has joined the oil and gas team. Both are well known and highly respected lawyers in Aberdeen. Nicola is a commercial property specialist who has worked in her home city since 2002 and is dual qualified allowing her to carry out cross border work. Bond Pearce is one of the few firms nationally able to offer a cross border service through a dual qualified real estate team whose clients include Royal Mail and Babcock International. Nicola joins Partner Michael Spence who is working across Scotland to build the property portfolio. Nicola has worked with Highland and Islands Enterprise and the Big Lottery Fund on its growing community asset programme as well as land buyers and developers. “My portfolio has been extremely varied and has included renewables work onshore in Scotland in relation to the financing as well as the land deals. “The attraction of moving to Bond Pearce was joining a new team which has really good plans and great aspirations for Scotland as well as an exceptional client base.” Carol is an employment lawyer who has been heavily involved with the oil and gas sector and is co chair of the Young Professionals in Oil and Gas. She too is dual qualified, “I am really looking forward to the challenge of joining a dynamic and rapidly development firm,” she said. Finlay Crossan, Energy partner, said that the company was continuing to recruit with another lawyer joining the oil and gas team later this month and further additions underway. “We have grown the Aberdeen business across the board in four years and it has been very important to get the right people to maintain the reputation for the highest quality which Bond Pearce has earned nationally,” he said. “That reputation is serving us well. There has been a significant increase in UKCS development work over the past year and we are winning work from many of the independents because of our industry expertise and the quality of our service. “One of the things which differentiates us from our competitors is that we practice English Law as well as Scots Law not just in property but also in all our commercial services in oil and gas and renewables. English law is the law of choice for offshore projects, even in Scottish sector waters, and in many international projects.” “It is our extensive experience in these projects that led to us organising our series of collaborative forums to introduce renewables developers to oil and gas contractors to try overcome some of the challenges which have to be faced to allow the potential of offshore wind to be realised.” 230 views
