BORDERS CHAMBER ELECTS NEW PRESIDENT & VICE-PRESIDENT

At its Board Meeting this week Scottish Borders Chamber of Commerce (SBCC) elected as President Fiona Drane, Director of Bright Light Marketing. Mark Walton of Eildon Housing (where his role includes managing the Borders Construction Industry Forum, was elected to the Vice-Chair.

Fiona Drane who formed Bright Light Marketing in 2007 after a sixteen year career in the Tourism industry which culminated in being Area Director for VisitScotland welcomed the challenge:

“I am delighted and honoured to be the new President of the Scottish Borders Chamber of Commerce. Bright Light Marketing have been a member of Scottish Borders Chamber of Commerce since we set up business in 2007. We have benefited as a business from membership particularly the mentoring programme. I commend membership to all Border businesses on our personal experience.

“It is a privilege to serve as President at a time when the Chamber enters its sixth year. The Chamber is no longer in its infancy and needs to be bold in building its profile as the leading voice for Border Businesses. We also need to shout about the importance of Border Businesses and the role we play in the wider Scottish Economy. I see this as being one of my number one priorities. I am passionate about the Scottish Borders and the Borders business community and will do everything that I can to make sure that it gets the recognition that it deserves.

“Lastly I must thank David Sturrock, a founding Director for the Chamber for his five years in the President’s seat and Willie Rodger for his interim guidance. With the support of our new dynamic board, and Mark in particular as my deputy, I am looking forward to making a real difference to Border businesses in the years to come.”
