Braehead Way to be resurfaced after diesel spill

Braehead Way remains closed between its junction with Gleneagles Drive and Braehead Shopping Centre while work is carried out to repair the road.

A bus petrol tank ruptured there yesterday [Tuesday, 6 September], spilling diesel onto the road. Diesel degrades the bitumen in the road surface, which now has to be replaced.

Council staff will plane off the road off this afternoon, and the first layer of the new surface is likely to be laid tomorrow, with the final layer being laid on Friday.

The road will remain closed until then.
