Brodies' Clare Munro named as 'Hot 100' lawyer for 2012

Clare Munro, Partner and Head of the Oil & Gas team at Brodies LLP, has been named as one of The Lawyer magazine's 'Hot 100' - its prestigious annual round-up of the stars of the UK legal profession.

Clare is the only lawyer working for a Scottish firm to feature in the list, which highlights the achievements of lawyers at the very top of their game over the past year. The accolade reflects Clare's status as one of the country's most prolific and respected specialist energy lawyers.

Commenting on Clare's considerable achievements since joining Brodies' newly-opened Aberdeen office in March, The Lawyer says: "Sometimes a partner hire crystallises a firm's strategy perfectly… Brodies could hardly have picked a better candidate to get its practice off to a flying start. Munro has more than 15 years' experience in the sector, including a spell in-house at BP and time spent on secondment in Indonesia and China. Munro is sought-after in particular for her nous in upstream deals and experience advising on transportation arrangements, including trans-boundary and international issues."

Clare is the fourth Brodies lawyer to earn a place in the Hot 100, following in the footsteps of Bill Drummond, Managing Partner, in 2006; Andrew Rigby, Partner Elect and Head of Outsourcing, in 2008 and Christine O'Neill, Head of the Public Law and Regulatory Team, last year.

Commenting on her achievement, Clare said: "It is tremendous to be recognised by one of the legal industry's leading magazines and my team and I look forward to continuing to deliver advice and support of the very highest standard to our clients. It is a real honour to be included in such a prestigious list alongside some of the biggest names in the legal profession."

The Hot 100 supplement is now available in the January 2012 edition of The Lawyer, published today (January 9), and can be viewed at www.thelawyer.com.
