Budding Legal Eagles learn about Mentoring SchemeA group of sixth year pupils from Robert Gordon’s College were invited to attend a question and answer session with trainees from Aberdeen’s largest commercial law firm, Paull and Williamsons. As prospective students of Law, pupils found speaking to trainees about their recent experiences very interesting. They talked about the academic challenges they faced throughout their degree and during the first months of their traineeship.
Pupil Megan Lukins said, “Having the opportunity to discuss the experiences that we could be facing in only a few months’ time, with graduates who have recently been through the same thing, was especially valuable. The scheme also allows us to access a mentor throughout the University application process”.
Miss Caroline Boyd, Head of Business Studies and Economics added, “This was an excellent opportunity for our pupils to see how their studies would transmit beyond school life through to university and into working practices in a corporate environment.”
Paull & Williamsons has a team of 26 partners and 140 lawyers and support staff and is based in Union Plaza, Aberdeen.
Scott Allan, Managing Partner at Paull & Williamsons commented: “We are delighted to support Robert Gordon’s College with this mentoring project to provide it’s students with an insight into the practical application of their studies.”
S6 pupils Scott Anderson, Becca Houston, Megan Lukins, Sabaa Malik, Megan Smith and James Zhou are currently working towards their January exam for the Foundations of Private Law Course they are currently studying at University of Aberdeen. Passing the January exam allows them to put the credits gained towards a university degree. 120 views
