In the ‘NE Scotland Monthly Economic Report’, provided to members of AGCC by MacKay Consultants in December 2011, Tony MacKay wrote, under the heading of “The Eurozone Crisis and the Scottish Economy”, explaining a model developed by them to forecast short term changes in the Scottish economy. The model indicated that about 35% of the change in economic output in Scotland in 2010 could be explained by what happened in the UK economy, 21% by Europe, and 10% by the world economy, leaving 34% as unexplained variables.
