CALEDUS TAKES A MAJOR ROLE IN NEW GLOBAL SERVICE COMPANY

Caledus, the well construction technology oil and gas service sector business has announced it has joined the new Dubai-based Tercel group of companies to create a global diversified oilfield products company.

Tercel Oilfield Products, which has its headquarters in the United Arab Emirates, will now operate as a designer and manufacturer of leading-edge products for the global upstream oil and gas industry. It is now the only oilfield products company that combines global technology, deep local roots in major markets, unique expertise in the Middle East and North Africa, and in-house manufacturing.

Caledus, which has established a reputation as a world-class provider developing and manufacturing drilling, completions and downhole services to the oil and gas industry, will become a major player within Tercel. Caledus will be able to call on the other companies within the group, who all have complementary technologies and products that will strengthen the new group as a whole.

Derek McLeod, Tercel’s Managing Director for Europe, Africa and CIS, will continue to lead the engineering, research and development, and manufacturing operations of Caledus, of which he is a founding partner, as well as Tercel’s pan-European sales and marketing effort. Caledus employs 60 people in Scotland. The new combined group of companies will allow Caledus to add more highly skilled staff to continue its long-term objectives of developing genuinely pioneering technological solutions.

Ian Pollock, Tercel’s General Manager for Europe, Africa and CIS, said: “This is a very exciting time for all of us in Tercel. The new company now has over 300 employees spread throughout all the major oil and gas arenas, and we are actively recruiting additional resources worldwide. The transference of the technologies around the group has given each of our sister companies access to world-class, desirable products.”

Mr Pollock said the Caledus product line would continue to be managed from its Aberdeen base in Portlethen, and many of its products are manufactured in the north east of Scotland. Other Tercel companies include Omni Oil Technologies of Dubai; Diamant Drilling Services of Gosselies, Belgium; and Encore Drill Bits of Houston, Texas.

Caledus, provides a patented range of well construction products in Europe, Asia Pacific, Africa and North America markets including SlimWELL, an evolutionary well construction products based on a bottom-up design of close-clearance, flush-jointed liners.

The company provides a range of equipment and is specifically focused on challenging wellbore conditions, high angle, extended reach drilling, horizontal wells where torque and drag, friction and casing wear reduction are key requirements.
