Celebrating Dramatic Effects

The Charity Awards 2012 are now open for entries.  The Charity Awards are organised by Civil Society Media and are once more sponsored by the Charity Aid Foundation.

For more information and to enter please visit civilsociety.co.uk/awards

Now in its 13th year, the Charity Awards programme continues to celebrate the dramatic effects that charities have on a wide spectrum of social needs.  In doing so the awards not only bestow on charities one of the highest accolades of the sector, but also promote the importance of always providing clear evidence of achievements.  Taking the pulse of the sector today, it is clear to see why that foresight is now more important than ever - economic uncertainty has made funders more demanding and the government's value for money and transparency agendas and driving a more interrogative culture.

The Benefits of Entering

"We were thrilled to win one of the most prestigious accolades in the UK charity sector.  Since winning the award, the profile of our organisation has been heightened locally, regionally and nationally throgh the subsequent press and media attention and acts as an additional motivator to all people involved in the project, helping us to help even more young people.  I would urge anybody who is considering applying to the Charity Awards go for it!"

Karen Edawrds, Bolton Lads and Girls Club, Winner of the 2011 Children and Youth Category

The initial criterion is that you are a UK charity.  After that you will be judged on your entry and the evidence you provide against the 'hallmarks of excellence.'  These are leadership, planning, learning, effectiveness, innovation, accountability, enterprise and sustainability.

The closing date for entires is Friday 9 March 2012.  Good Luck!
