Chamber comments on Chancellor's Autumn statementBob Collier, Chief Executive, Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce said: “The overall impact of the Chancellors Autumn statement on businesses in the North-east appears to be positive. Going forward, it is essential that the Chancellor puts in place the necessary measures to help the private sector drive growth. A lack of access to finance is a constant barrier to business and the National Loan Guarantee Scheme should help to address this. “The decision to cancel January’s planned rise in fuel duty is also welcomed although the increase is still planned for August 2012. One area of disappointing news is the move to increase Business Rates by 5.6%. However, the Scottish Government has the power to address this issue by ensuring similar rises are not seen in Scotland.” 146 views
