Changes to standard opening times at Household Waste Recycling CentresThe standard opening hours at eleven full-time Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) in Aberdeenshire change this week. Previously, the HWRCs were open late on a Tuesday evening throughout the year.
The sites have not been well-used on Tuesdays after 5pm and it is thought unlikely that will change during the rest of the winter.
Aberdeenshire Council’s Infrastructure Services Committee (ISC) recently decided the standard opening times for full-time HWRCs will be 9am to 5pm Monday to Sunday all year, with one late evening opening on Tuesdays from 5pm to 8pm, April to September inclusive.
ISC chairman Peter Argyle said: “Although there will no longer be a late opening night during winter months, residents will benefit from longer opening hours in daylight at weekends, with sites now opening at 9am instead of 10am on both Saturday and Sunday all year round. We also have recycling points available at all times.”
Vice chair Jill Webster said: “These changes are in line with what our residents have shown they want from their local HWRCs, and increased opening hours at weekends may also help reduce traffic congestion at some of the sites.”
The centres whose opening hours have changed are: Fraserburgh, Anderson Place; Macduff, Old Gamrie Road; Peterhead, Damhead Road, Dales Industrial Estate; Ellon, Balmacassie Commercial Park; Turriff, Markethill; Inverurie, Souterford Road; Westhill, Westdyke Avenue; Laurencekirk, Market Road; Stonehaven, Redcloak; Banchory, Crows Nest; Huntly, Steven Road. 151 views
