Chinese Consul visits RGURobert Gordon University (RGU) welcomed Chinese Consul General, Li Ruiyou to its campus this week (Wednesday 14 December), further strengthening the university’s association with China. Chinese Consul General Li Ruiyou visited RGU’s Scott Sutherland School of Architecture and Built Environment, Aberdeen Business School and its Faculty of Health and Social Care. He also received a tour of RGU:SPORT and was given the opportunity to view the new Garthdee campus building, which is currently under construction. During his visit Mr Li was introduced to a number of the RGU Chinese student community and held discussions with university staff where he was particularly interested in learning about RGU’s corporate business activities in China. The University has been successfully delivering training programmes to Chinese oil and gas companies, both in Aberdeen and China for a number of years. It enjoys an excellent reputation within the industry for the quality and relevance of its training programmes and anticipates growing its level of business over the few years. Greg Sloan, International Business Development Manager at RGU said; “China’s growing economic, cultural and political importance is changing the world. At RGU we relish the opportunity to meet Chinese members of state and government ambassadors and forge long lasting relationships through regular engagement, thus heightening our prospects for knowledge sharing, research and cross-culture interaction.” The visit comes at a time when the wider relationship between Scotland and China has been growing; recently marked by the delivery of two Pandas from China to Edinburgh Zoo as well as an increase in salmon and Scotch whisky imports to China. The Scottish National party leader has also recently travelled to the Shandong province, where renewable energy and other clean technology opportunities for Sino-Scots collaboration were discussed. 208 views
