CLAN CANCER SUPPORT BOWLED OVER BY DONATIONSA North-east cancer support charity has experienced a fantastic response to a recent appeal for donations at its Aberdeen charity shops. CLAN Cancer Support has received an unprecedented amount of donations from both individuals and local companies. As a result of supporters’ generosity the charity is clearing a backlog of stock and will not be able to accept further donations to its Aberdeen shops in Rosemount or Chapel Street until Monday, 25 April. Susan Crighton, fundraising manager at CLAN, said the charity has been overwhelmed by the generosity of the local community. She said: “Our shops provide vital revenue towards supporting our provision of services for our clients and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive. It costs around £100,000 per month to provide the vital support services based in CLAN House and our outreach centres, meaning crucial fundraising has to continue over and above the commitment to our new purpose built centre. “We have been overwhelmed by the tremendous quality and level of donations recently and have unfortunately had to make the decision to temporarily suspend receiving donations as a short term measure. “We would like to reiterate that this is only a temporary measure and that we will be welcoming everyone’s donations again very soon.” CLAN is an independent charity which offers support to anyone affected by cancer. Based in Aberdeen, the charity covers the whole of Grampian, Orkney and Shetland. CLAN is also developing services in the community and now has a presence in Ballater, Inverurie, Peterhead, Stonehaven, Orkney and Shetland.
