CNR INTERNATIONAL DONATES £15,000 TO LOCAL CHARITIESAn Aberdeen charity which provides invaluable support to people with mental health issues has been given a significant cash injection by oil and gas operator CNR International. Mental Health Aberdeen has received £5,000 from CNR International as part of the business’ Evergreen initiative which provides financial and practical support to three local charities every year.
CLAN Cancer Support (CLAN) and social care charity VSA have also each received £5,000 from CNR International, which has worked with, and financially supported, the three charities since 2003.
Astrid Whyte, Chief Executive of Mental Health Aberdeen, said the donation would allow the charity to continue to train new volunteers, who play such an important role in supporting people with mental health issues.
She said: “CNR International is an organisation which truly recognises the value of positive mental health and wellbeing in the community. Charities like ours, working in the area we do, often struggle to attract first class support as mental health is not always fully understood by the general public.
“Through direct support from organisations like CNR International, we hope that perceptions will change and people will become more enlightened as to the challenges people with mental health issues face.”
Barry Duncan, Vice President, Finance at CNR International, said the support from the company to the charities each year was practical as well as financial.
He added: “One of our employees, Laura Ewen, is this year joining the MHA committee to help with fundraising activities, whilst some of our staff have been involved in a decoration project at the charity.
“We strongly believe that supporting charities should be about more than just handing over money to organisations, it’s also about providing practical support. Our three chosen charities do such a phenomenal amount of work in the local community and we hope that our latest donations will help them continue to make a difference to the lives of people who need their help.”
