CORPORATE GIANTS PREPARE TO COMPETE IN PENULTIMATE CHALLENGE IN DECATHLONKittybrewster and Balgownie Bowling Clubs will host the penultimate event in the Aberdeen Corporate Decathlon, the Lawn Bowls Challenge which will be held at the clubs on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th September. Coached training sessions were provided at Balgownie to help introduce the many new players to the sport. After being taught the difference between a Backhand Draw and a Drive, our teams are now equipped to take each other and won those all-important decathlon points! Anne Gauld, Vice President at Kittybrewster Bowling Club said “The training sessions have gone well with all competitors having enjoyed the game while at the same time taken onboard the rules and etiquette. I wish to extend my thanks to all the Coaches who have given their time to assist over the 5 evenings. I hope that all competitors have enjoyed the game of lawn bowls to the extent that the majority become members of a bowling club. Bowling is not just a sport that you retire into but one for all ages”. Defending their title in League 1 are Shell Team 1, who have close completion from Wood Group in the second place, and are bring hotly pursued by Baker Hughes in third place. In League 2, PwC are still on top as they fight to hold on their title for another challenge, Champion Technologies are currently in second place and Senergy in third. The gaps are getting even tighter at the top of each league as we head into this challenge so the competition really is anyone’s as we begin to the reach the end of the 2011 season! Spectators are welcome to come down and cheer their teams on this weekend, so bring all your family and friends with you for moral support. 96 views
