CORPORATE GIANTS PREPARE TO COMPETE IN TOUCH RUGBY CHALLENGE

The Scottish Touch Association will host the sixth event in the Aberdeen Corporate Decathlon. The Touch Rugby Challenge sponsored by Hunting will be held at Woodside Sports Complex on Saturday 16th July.

With many players new to the sport who weren’t too sure about the difference between a tap and a roll ball, the Scottish Touch Association (STA) held coaching sessions to help introduce people to the game. They will also provide qualified referees for the games to ensure players have a safe and fun day.

STA President, Peter Faassen de Heer said, “These events are a great opportunity for us to showcase Touch to people who normally wouldn’t go anywhere near a rugby ball. Many who were introduced to the sport by activitymix, continue to take part, playing in the park or local leagues.  Some have even excelled for Scotland.  In addition, activitymix provides vital funding support to help the STA with its referee and coaching development programmes.”

This is the first year the Touch Rugby Challenge has been sponsored by Hunting, who are currently sitting in 10th position in League 2 this season.

Managing Director, Bruce Ferguson said, “Hunting is delighted to be a part of such a dynamic and vibrant event for the second year running and a sponsor for the Touch Rugby tournament this year. With a number of different divisions across Aberdeenshire, the Corporate Decathlon is an excellent opportunity for us to develop team spirit and encourage interaction across the business.”

Defending their titles for another challenge are Baker Hughes and PwC, in League 1 and 2 respectively but after the Highland Games, the gaps are tightening at the top and the completion has been thrown wide open!

Spectators are welcome to come down and cheer their teams on this Saturday, so bring all your family and friends with you for moral support!
