Councillors back health and dental centre plans

Plans to create a new health and dental centre in Aberdeen have been approved by councillors on the Development Management sub-committee.

The proposed centre is to be built on the site of the concrete all-weather football pitch at Marquis Road. The council has already committed to replace it with a new pitch at Ferrier Crescent, using money from the sale of the land to NHS Grampian.

In a report before today’s committee, Dr Margaret Bochel, head of Planning and Sustainable Development, said: “The proposed dentist and doctors’ surgery would be a welcome addition to the community. While it is regrettable that the existing pitch would be removed, a new pitch would be provided for local residents at a nearby location which would be of a greater quality.”

Councillors agreed with a recommendation in the report to approve planning permission subject to conditions.
