Deeside Relay Race a Huge Success!

The Deeside Relay Race held at Deeside Activity Park was hailed as a huge success last night with over 70 participants taking part. The event is now in its third year running in conjunction with Running the Highlands and Deeside Activity Park.

“The teams of four were made up of two men and two women and they each had a 5 km circuit through Dess woods to run before coming back to hand over the baton to the next person in their team. It was great to see so many people out enjoying the event and the good weather.” said Neil Stewart of Running the Highlands.

 

After the race everyone enjoyed a BBQ and a pint of Beer. The results are 1st – Cosmic Comics in 77 minutes and 33 seconds, Pauline Larmour, Colin Larmour, Veronique Oldham, Colin Russell. 2nd – Slow and Steady Wins the Race 79:41, Simon Pearce, Liz Campbell, Katie Pearce, Kevin Harper, 3rd - Lynx Pack 80:30, Louise Provan, Bert Van Tuijl, Kirsty Robson, John Macpherson.

 

There were two extra prizes this year for Best Dressed Team – Deeside Demons and a spot prize – Cosmic Heroes. The Fastest individual male was Sam Burgess 15:22 and Fastest individual female was Veronique Oldham 18:22.

 

“The event was a very successful start to a busy week of the Deeside Beer Festival and hopefully getting a great night for the run then the weather will hold through till Saturday night!” said Caroline from Deeside Activity Park.

 

The Deeside Beer Festival is on Friday 13th May and the Ceilidh with Clachan Yell is on Saturday 14th May.
