Delivering council services throughout the festivities

Aberdeenshire residents are being reminded to take note of festive opening dates for council offices over the next fortnight.

Essential services will continue to be delivered over the Christmas break, but general offices will be closed on the following public holiday dates:

• Monday, December 26

• Tuesday, December 27

• Friday, December 30

• Monday, January 2

• Tuesday, January 3

Council offices will open as normal on Wednesday, January 4 and most schools will re-open on Monday, January 9.

Throughout the festive period, essential services such as care for vulnerable people will continue to be delivered.

As Christmas and New Year’s Day fall on a Sunday this year, refuse and recycling collections will be made on their normal days.

Please note, however, that all household waste and recycling centres will be closed on Sunday, December 25, and Sunday, January 1.

The council will of course continue to support customers by offering emergency services throughout the holidays. These services include:

• Housing Repairs: 08456 08 12 03

• Home Care: 08456 08 12 06

• Environmental Health: 08456 08 12 03

• Social Work Emergencies: 08458 40 00 70

• Homelessness: 08458 40 00 70

As the winter break begins, Provost of Aberdeenshire Bill Howatson and Aberdeenshire Council Leader Cllr Anne Robertson have recorded festive messages that can be found at the following locations:

And although the area has seen some unseasonally mild weather recently, it is still worth being prepared for any sudden changes in conditions. Visit the Ready Aberdeenshire pages at www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk/ready_aberdeenshire for advice on preparing for the winter season.
