This highly interactive course concentrates on both the process of (how) and the interpersonal influences on (why) we communicate with others. We need to become aware of our own communication style, to learn from every situation, every person we interact with and every intuition we have. By understanding how first impressions are formed, rapport established and recognising the many motivational influences on individual behaviour, we will make that difference.

Learning outcomes:

An understanding of the communication process
Recognition and minimisation of various barriers to effective communication
Appreciation of some of the many influences as to why people behave in the way they do
Development of techniques to positively influence others
Evaluation criteria and action planning to make that difference
