Empire Mediation

Conflict between staff in an organisation can result in a decrease in workplace efficiency and can cost management time trying to resolve issues.

Situations can arise between members of staff due to a clash of personality or a simple breakdown in communication. These types of issues can be detrimental as it can leave fellow members of staff feeling uneasy, resulting in a low morale and an unpleasant atmosphere in the workplace.

Knowing how to tackle these situations can be difficult for a manager and finding the time to sort them out can be tricky when at busy times. However, if these issues are left to fester it could lead to a more complicated situation and in the worst case scenario a costly tribunal.

Mediation is a well established and effective method of resolving disputes through a trained impartial mediator who offers a non biased support and helps the parties to work towards an agreement. It is voluntary, confidential and a flexible process.

Leading Aberdeen HR and health and safety firm, Empire, has recently introduced Empire Mediation to their services to offer their clients an alternative path to resolving workplace conflict by allowing parties to state their case in a confidential forum and works towards a positive outcome.

Elaine Masson, Senior Employment Training Advisor, who has recently been awarded her accreditation for mediation, said: “Mediation is a great tool for a business, it is cost effective compared to other methods but it also offers a confidentiality to those involved. As a mediator, we are in charge of the process of seeking to resolve the problem but not the outcome.”

Empire Operations Director, Peter-Jon Chalmers continued: “Introducing the mediation service expands and complements our evolving range of business solutions. Mediation has been widely used within many larger organisations but now organisations of all sizes are increasingly recognizing that it offers a cost effective method for resolving conflict in the workplace.”
