Energy Ventures Announces Strong Performance in 2011

New Position Created within Aberdeen Office

Energy Ventures, the specialist oil and gas investor, announced today record growth during 2011. Revenue across the portfolio has increased on average by 50%. During 2011 Energy Ventures successfully raised its fourth fund, a new $350m energy focussed fund, from which it has already supported two new portfolio companies and has plans to close further investments by the end of the year.

The number of incoming investment opportunities, a key performance indicator of overall market growth, has doubled over the last 12 months. Energy Ventures believes that the oil and gas market will continue to strengthen into and beyond 2012 and has bolstered the Aberdeen team with the appointment of Victoria Gammie as Senior Business Analyst.

Victoria will assist in portfolio management and in identifying and analysing new investment opportunities. Prior to joining the firm, Victoria spent seven years working in corporate finance within two prominent Aberdeen accountancy firms, and adds finance and transaction experience as well as an extensive network to the team.

Greg Herrera, Partner at Energy Ventures says, “The North Sea oil and gas industry has been buoyant during 2011 and this has stimulated the growth and development of a number of our portfolio companies. To meet increased demand, we have created the new position of Senior Business Analyst and Victoria will play a key role in identifying new investment opportunities.”

Victoria Gammie says “I am excited to be joining the Energy Ventures dynamic team during a period of strong activity and growth. Energy Ventures unique business model is to be a minority partner alongside entrepreneurs providing venture and growth capital, industry competence and global network to grow businesses. This unique model, together with Aberdeen’s leadership in oil and gas innovation, attracted me to the role and I look forward to an exciting future.”

Energy Ventures provides capital and energy industry expertise to high growth oil and gas technology companies and currently has circa $750 million under management. Energy Ventures has a current portfolio of 18 energy companies operating on a global basis. Aberdeen based portfolio companies include Read Well Services, Zi-Lift, Deep Casing Tools, FFA, Red Spider Technologies and Sigma Offshore.
