EnQuest takes North Sea Thistle platform to a four year LTI milestone

EnQuest PLC – the largest UK listed independent production company in the UK North Sea - has helped set a North Sea safety milestone by recording four years free of Lost Time Incidents (LTI’s) in the Thistle field.

The LTI achievement encompasses the period from rig upgrade through rig start-up and the first eighteen months of rig operations.

Involved in achieving the unblemished record were not only EnQuest's team but the KCA Deutag drill crew, the Aker Qserv well services crew, and a range of other offshore contractors. Their work included integrity driven partial abandonments, workovers, sidetracks, and the installation of the first electrical submersible pump (ESP) on Thistle.

During a team building workshop and dinner, EnQuest presented a commemorative plaque to Ali Young, Rig Manager and Jim Stirling Rig Superintendent of KCA Deutag.

Simon Richards, Drilling Operations Manager for EnQuest said:

"Four years without an LTI is an exceptional achievement under any circumstances, but given the challenges our teams have faced in bringing the Thistle drilling rig back online, to drill its first new wells in over 20 years, it's quite outstanding. We are immensely proud of the well delivery team."
